Corbett Tiger Reserve
I responded to an invitation by “The Northern India Bird Network” (delhibird) and landed up in Delhi on the 1st of April, 2003 along with Giri. I did Sultanpur on the 1st and we drove to the Corbett Tiger Reserve on the 2nd and were back in Delhi on the 6th. I did the Yamuna on the 7th and had a day with Bill and Mike on the 8th at Basai and Sultanpur. I made several superb images. I am sharing these with you here and hope you enjoy them as much as I did!
It was one of the most invigorating birding trip, I have ever had! Everyone was engrossed in birds all the time. Bill Harvey was exceptional! Add Nik, Bikram and the others in this camp and one could almost fly with the birds! These people are extremely dedicated, very knowledgeable and great human beings. I was lucky to be with them on this trip.
Situated in the foothills of Himalayas in the Siwalik ranges, The “Corbett Tiger Reserve” rightly known as the “Heaven of Birds” has about 550 species of birds as per the recent checklist compiled by delhibird . The 520 sq. km. Park is open from mid-November to mid-June for visitors. Tiger Camp run by Mohit is a great place just outside the park. http://indianwildlife.com/tigercamp.html
