Black Winged Stilt is common resident bird in India.Yes, color pattern variations can be seen in many birds and I think that it is due to growing age and breeding plumage changes. The bird is very common but very interesting to watch and can be seen anywhere in any situation.

Black-winged Stilt with black hindneck and head has been observed in Thailand many many times. I had asked Philip D. Round about it and his answer is that it is just a color pattern variation, nothing more.
These are some examples of what we have in Thailand.
